Dennis Köhler his 1UZ Miata

A typical well-humored Miata driver, that’s what I describe Dennis Köhler as. Not too serious, just having fun on the track with friends.

Dennis has struggled with this project the last couple of years, it used to be a 1.8 turbo with more power than it has now with the V8 swapped in it. But it was unreliable, the clutch was slipping every round.

Now with the V8 swapped in, it has lower numbers, but a lot of torque on the lower RPM’s making it a drift-machine and with the engine being stock, more reliable.

I drove a couple of rounds with him and it feels really stable, even for a miata with it’s snappy nature.

He is in a team with Kevin Corsius and they call themselves the “Foolish drift team”.

The build itself looks good, it’s a huge engine for such a small car, but it seems to fit easily with few adjustments to the chassis and subframe.

But damn, what a sight to see. A well built Miata drifting machine. You don’t see big passionate projects like these everyday. I gotta say, as a former Miata owner, I’m jealous.
